A Utah man was jailed recently on charges relating to polygamy. If all parties to the marriage agreed, would you object to polygamous households?

Hi everyone!
I saw a very interesting documentary on one of the channels about a christian cult that promoted poligamy to th extent that the whole community was practically related to each other. The leader of the community had 42 wives or so.The kids are not attending real school , they hardly can write or read. They
"import " wives for even the USa because of the possible incestry.
Unbelievable. And that is right here in BC.
But your question about poligamy with agreement of all parties is a tough one.
How would you give equal rights for all the parties? i dont think the women in the relationship wouldnt be supressed by the husband. It takes a very low self esteem to be one of the wives. But wait a second it could be 2 husbands one wife as well...now thats an even crazier situation .
But since I am considering myself libertarian.....why not? Canada is already accepting gay marriage , I dont think its any different from that , its a nonconventional sexual-romantical orientation.
If they are happy in that sort of relationship...go for it!, it sure doesnt hurt me. But they have to take all the responsibilities that come with such a lifestyle.

I recall seeing that documentary, loooooooong time ago, I think the polygamous community in B.C. was called: Bountiful. I also recall how the leader of this community was able to elude the law because his business kept the economy going in that region. There were allegations of rape and pedophilia, instigated by the leader's first wife. The children recevied just enough education to be able to read and write. All in all the message to me was that the men were in total control and they did whatever they pleased within that community.

On the otherhand I totally agree with you as long as there are mutually consenting parties and they choose to live in polygomy...why not? I for one, would love to have two husbands :D

Revolutionary! :) I wonder, if they took this poll in Hungary what would the outcome be. :)
